What’s the most “creative” website you’ve seen recently?  Did it realise an innovative idea?   Or perhaps it had particularly impressive graphic design?  Maybe it had an innovative approach to user experience?  Or was it technically creative?  Chances are you’ll get a different answer if you ask say a strategist, a designer, a user experience consultant or a developer; essentially whether or not you think something is creative depends o ...read full story

For the past few months, we’ve had a major project underway that’s taken a huge amount of our resources. We’ve totally redesigned and rebuilt the National Curriculum website and it finally went live on Monday. The Qualifications and Curriculum Development Authority (QCDA) set the curriculum in schools. Part of the brief was to include a whole new primary curriculum section, to help prepare teachers, before it comes into force next year. This new content had to sit alongside the ...read full story

Following our recently launched site for Sony's Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection, we have now launched the psp only version of the site to sit alongside it. Using the same design and concept from main site, the psp version features information about the game, new characters, the obligatory downloads and some exclusive Girls of Tekken behind the scenes wallpapers and a quite raunchy little video. It's our first psp site to be launched to date, so we've been learning what you can and ...read full story

NMA Top 100

E3 featured highly again in the annual round up of the UK's best digital agencies in the 2006 New Media Age Top 100.  We came 19th in the UK (up 12 positions on last year) under the section of 'design and build' (as there's no full service category this year).  Our acquisition of Butterfly Effect was also mentioned in the main opening feature.  This positions us comforatbly as one of the countries leading independant digital agencies - which we're fairly happy ...read full story

We went to pitch for a new piece of work with Kia last week, to redesign their accessories section of the Kia UK site.  It's been on the cards for a while so we were pretty chuffed it was back on the radar.  Wes and Stu were adamant that really wanted to 'do the biz' on this one and show the Kia guys something new and different.  The E3 team had been sitting mulling this one over for ages and had researched the market quite a lot, benchmarking what wo ...read full story

Away Day

Well we all made it back in one piece at least.  Okay there were a few bruises and causalities but all minor and non life threatening. We headed to Hamburger Hill (no really), got camoed up, split into 2 teams of 25, picked up our guns, hundreds of paintballs and blew seven bells out of each other.Flipping eck it hurts.  During the first game Mike got a point blank shot to the left nipple - and screamed like a six year old girl, only to give his cover away (duh) to the enemy team w ...read full story

We're closing the office down on Thursday, to go off on a bit of a jolly.  It's been 3 months since Mauritius so we really, really need it a bit of TLC. Come on, do you know how hard it is to sit in front of a computer and be creative all day?  Seriously, it’s been a record 5 months business wise so we want to take the chaps away to say thanks for all their hard work and to share the love. So, what better way to ‘share the love’ than by kicking each ...read full story

Sunday saw Stu, Chudders, Karen and Justin and surrogate E3'ers James and Mozza run the Reebok Bristol half marathon.  And run it they did, like little troopers.  They all raised a wedge of cash for cancer charaties in the process, so their pain, blisters and worn out knees were all well worth it.Next year we're gonna try and get at least 10 of us to do it.  Bring it on!!!We're all very proud of them, so well done guys!Stu, James and Mozza before ...read full story

Downstairs at the Tobacco Factory, a few pints to say goodbye to what's been quite a hectic week, but all good, which is always a nice way to kick start the weekend.  Helen had just come back from a day with the COI, which went very well by the sounds of it.  The project is progressing well and looks like it might be getting even bigger.'The Ridge' or is it Kevin 'Footlose' Bacon (who knows?) comes down sporting a lovely 1989 Fosters suit jacket, holding an 'attractive' blue ...read full story

Your pints are getting warm downstairs guys.  Come on - move away from the computer. And yet another week has gone by without the dartboard being fixed to the wall.  It's still sitting behind Mike's desk (which is a worry) as  we all know that things have a habit of going missing if they're left within 2 feet of Mike for anything longer than a hour.   But then again it would be going some for him to lose a dartboard.  HR records, job offer letters and appr ...read full story

To say we agreed about a year ago never to launch a site on a Friday afternoon - this Friday saw 2 sites go live.Friday afternoons were never good for us.  Whenever we agreed to launch anything on a Friday five minutes before we were all due to clock off and go for a pint we'd always get a call from the client asking for "a few tiny changes".  "A few tiny changes" usually meant we'd all still be in the studio at 4am on Saturda ...read full story

Monday is usually a day full  of internal meetings.  Workflow, billings, client services, team and day to day operational meetings.  Talia and Stu get together to talk about how many freelances we might need to get our hands on.  This is usually a meeting that can take anything from 5 minutes to 5 hours.  This week only took 5 minutes as everything looks okay, but next week we might need to ramp it up a bit more.  The main topic of conversation this m ...read full story

We lost the rounders game. But only because big mouth Bennett gave Wildfire a 10 rounder head start last week. Even with that incredible advantage E3 only lost by 2 rounders – really highlighting just how bad Wildfire performed on the night. The word cheat – also takes on a new meaning with Wildfire MD, Ashley openly admitting on Friday that “it wasn’t a pretty sight and I feel quite ashamed”. Seeing his staff try to rugby tackle the E3 team to the gro ...read full story

It's that time of year again when E3 and sister company Wildfire have their annual rounders match on the downs. COI says yes

We heard yesterday that we've won a major new project for the COI. We're pretty chuffed as it's one of the first projects to be commissioned by the COI since their new digital roster was announced last month. We went up against 6 agencies for the piece and were short listed down to the final 3. We had a 3 hour pitch in London on Wednesday and heard that we'd been successful on Thursday. They're also coming to Bristol for a kick off meeting on Tuesday (these guys don't hang around). We can't ...read full story
