Every year at e3 we like to kick back and relax in style somewhere in our studio’s hometown of Bristol. This year Circomedia, a school for contemporary circus and physical theatre based in St. Paul’s Church in Portland Square, were our gracious hosts.

We kicked off the session with our Senior Management Team giving us a roundup of the year, including our client acquisitions, our award wins and what is next to come in the financial year. We saw highlights from SXSW, our Shorty Award win and our frolics in the world of emerging tech.

Splitting into small groups we took turns either trying our hand at juggling, building a human pyramid, tight-rope walking (about one foot off the floor) or attempting to get onto a trapeze. The teams took to this with gusto and even the most physical-exercise-shy of us (myself included) got into the spirit and valiantly tried to learn how juggle.

Our circus training was broken up into two sessions with a delicious lunch from Papadeli and an invigorating speech from anthropologist and author Ken Burns during the day. Ken works all over the world but specifically looks at the world of ‘reluctant innovators’ in some of the poorest parts– people who don’t invent or create because they can, but because they must.

Rounding up the day at the Riverstation for a fantastic dinner. We finished the day feeling slightly tired after the circus skills masterclass, leading to maybe partying a little too long after dinner…

Check out some of the images below. Here’s to next year’s Love In! Maybe I’ll have learnt to juggle by then…
