Another awards nomination for e3
Following hot on the heels of our two BIMA Award nominations just last week, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve also been nominated for a Digital Impact Award – the UK’s largest celebration of excellence in digital communications. Our nomination is in the category of ‘best digital employee communication’ for our work with the Global Brand team at Orange – and the development of the Orange Creative Approval Workflow Tool (OCAT).
How can you better manage a global brand, including the distribution of advice and assets across 220 territories? This was the challenge that the Orange Global Brand team approached e3 with. They were finding the management process cumbersome and time intensive – and their existing solution didn’t provide them with a trail of previous activity that they could monitor and refer back to. The system was also heavily email reliant and didn’t suit the Orange culture of working on the move.
We responded by creating a bespoke solution: the Orange Creative Workflow Approval Tool (OCAT). Aimed at Orange Creative Committee members and allowing restricted access to local country brand teams, OCAT uses a custom PHP web application with a MySQL database (that uses the Codeigniter PHP framework) to streamline the development process and maximise performance.
The feedback from the client has been overwhelmingly positive - the OCAT now saves both agencies and Orange considerable admin time, allowing users to access a wide range of documents and assets. Its functionality also allows reporting on on-going projects and simplified liaising between Orange markets, whilst making it quick and easy to identify key market successes or areas that need further support.
Auriol Clarke, Senior Creative & Digital Brand Manager at Orange said:
“We’re a mobile company and an international team, so we need tools that work on mobile devices, while we’re trotting the globe. The Orange Creative Approval Tool has had a hugely positive impact on the way we work. It’s easy to access, keep a record of comments, share feedback with our markets, and monitor the effectiveness of our agencies.”

“We're delighted e3 has been nominated for a Digital Impact Award in the ‘best digital employee communication’ category for our work with Orange. The development of the OCAT tool has resulted in significantly streamlining their workload, whilst enabling them to manage the brand tightly. We look forward to continuing our long standing relationship with Orange and working with them well into 2013 and beyond”.
