We’re celebrating after blowing the competition out of the water at last night’s prestigious BIMA Awards.

We took home the Web Design and Build award for the development of the new website and digital presence for the Royal Navy, as well as being shortlisted for the Public Life, Mobile and UX awards.

The Royal Navy’s website plays a vital role in educating, informing and influencing a wide range of stakeholders, from the general public, to employees and their families, and also plays a central role in recruiting the future of the Naval service.

Our approach was to redefine the Royal Navy’s digital design strategy to focus on storytelling, creating a content-first, responsive website which is rich in inspiring video content allowing the audience to quickly access information about roles across the Royal Navy’s five branches.

The team also created a suite of digital recruitment brochures and helped to develop a new social media strategy.

Since its launch in June the new website has achieved phenomenal results, with a 641% increase in visitors and a 202% percent increase in potential recruits completing applications online in July alone.

Tristan Pride, e3’s Creative Director, says: “This has been a fantastic piece of work to be involved in and we’re extremely proud of the results. We’ve pushed the creative, technical and strategic boundaries to create a site that our client – and audience – loves. Winning this award is the icing on the cake.”

“It's fantastic to win this award,” adds Gary Trimnell, e3’s Head of Development, “especially in the Website Design and Build category, as it recognises the hard work, dedication and love that every discipline here at e3 has put in to producing a beautifully crafted and engaging website.”

The BIMA Awards are supported by high profile publications, Contagious, the Guardian and The Drum. In its thirtieth year the BIMAs celebrate the ‘Best of British Digital’.
